The article i was referring to: http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/health/4189615.stm
Heavy alcohol consumption is blamed for about 6% of all cancers in western countries.
But both beer and red wine, taken in moderation are also associated with health benefits, including reducing the risk of heart disease.
Dame Helen Shovelton, chief executive of the British Lung Foundation, said people must not interpret the research as encouragement for drinking more alcohol.

There was also another article exploring the benefits of beer into detail (but cant seem to find this right now), and recently a study in one of the uni's over here also had found some evidence that instead of drinking that one glass of red wine every evening, one glass of beer would have other health improvement affects.

Anyhow, im NO way advocating the use /consumption of alcohol as a way to improve health! (just wanted to enlighten one good side of alcohol)

    :edit:
I just see that there was another poll, about polls... I did not intend to have someone do this (apparently I should have been more explicit and put a big with it)

    I resemble that comment.

Regularly, I tend to go out on the weekends with friends and we always end up in a pub somewhere. Then again I have no problem sticking to coke when there's no good beer available.

Regularly. Pretty much every weekend. I am drinking less and less though, one of the reasons being I'm getting tired of feeling nauseous all saturday. Anyway I tend to have more fun if I can hold a conversation with someone without passing out. I can be a tit like that.

I don't. I have never gained a taste for alcoholic beverages with the notable exception of a martini every once in a long while. I also have (probably because of that) a very low tolerance for alcohol.

I do drink a beer on occasion; if it's very hot, I'm feeling thirsty and everyone else around me is doing it. But I cannot say I enjoy it. On the contrary, I don't like the taste. The thirst just helps blend it. Last year I can safely say I drank two beers and 1 martini. Because of that, voted occasionally.

Most of the drinks I've had were horrible tasting, but they've been mostly straight up, no additives or flavor or anything. I'm curious to see how a Guinness tastes.

You must be a very boring person if your life is boring without alcohol...

Have you noticed why most teens start drinking/using drugs during high school?
That's because life gets boring. When you're 8 years old everything is fun. When you're
16 and its a Friday what do you do? Play toy guns? No, you go to a party and get wasted because 90% of your life is boring.

Drugs and alcohol fill in that "boring" gap that keeps stretching farther and farther.

If you're one of those guys who really don't like beer (I am) you should try that Smirnoff Lemonade stuff. It's beer but it tastes exactly like lemonade with none of that bitter beer taste.

Low tolerance is a good thing. Makes getting the buzz a lot cheaper.

I used to dislike beer so I started trying different types of beers until I found the types I like. Beer comes in such a wide range that I think one could find a beer they like. But of course with your pot and cig smoking you probably don't need another vice

No, it is because at that age kids are stupid, don't know how to have a good time without being stupid, and then listen to their stupid friends.

I drink on occasion. Due to my family history I am very cautious about it. Luckily (in a way) my first heavy drinking experience caused me to blackout the entire incident (except for the morning after where I could barely crawl and couldn't drink water). That pretty much keeps me from ever drinking heavily again.

I am 16. And I can have a lot of fun without alcohol. For example last weekend I swimmed on a little island nearby with my friends and did a lot of wicked funny things there. It was in an inactive strip mine where there were funny things like wet clay fields (slippery and slimy... but funny) and little "rivers" on sand slopes.

They do it because there is nothing else to do and when they're partying they are having fun. Really its just a rotation between partying and xbox live. Kids hardly do it under peer pressure and they don't do it "to be cool", cuz what else are we going to do?

I know drugs have made my life and millions of other kids lifes way funner.
