Sure, I never said it WASN'T.

But look at Wii's latest innovation, it sold well above the PS3 and XBOX, the introduction of wireless controllers into PS3, the abandoning of the memory card, introduction of large HDD's, etc, who knows what else, I don't own any of the new generation consoles. There are other newer things coming into consoles quicker than they are coming for the PC.

Its easier to fill an empty room, that to fit more into a full room. Consoles aren't advancing faster than PC's, they are just using technologies that already exist in PC's. The same thing is happenign with GPU's, everyone is having orgasms claiming that they are exceedign moores law blah blah whatever. Its easy to double the speed of a 400 MHz core to 800 MHZ when 800 Mhz was done 5 years before, its far harder to actually push the envelope. So consoles are now using hard drivees, big deal, PC's have been doing that for 20 years.

Especially considering the new generation consoles have radically different technologies to the PC?
THe PS3 has new technology developed by IBM in it's processors, blue ray invented by sony, Wii's new control method, etc.

    That is just untrue.

Which technology would that be? cellBE? Sorry to burst your bubble but that wasn't developed by IBM, Cray's patents are just running out.

    blue ray invented by sony,
just a more advanced version of the same technology used in CD/DVD.

    Wii's new control method, etc.

When the Xbox360 came out it was nothing like any PC on the market, and it still isn't.

Oh and just because Cray used to make vector CPUs doesn't mean that the Cell isn't new technology. It took 3 major IT companies 7 years to develop, saying that it's basically just a Cray vector CPU is just stupid.
How I need a drink, alcoholic in nature, after the heavy lectures involving quantum mechanics.
