    try this for your wincl.hIcon:
    Code:
    LoadIcon(GetModuleHandle(NULL), MAKEINTRESOURCE(IDI_MYICON))

Can the complier find the icon?

In the compiler the exe runs from a seperate folder (Debug). Try adding the icon to the Debug folder or set the path in the complier.

    something like
    ".\\icon.ico"

    "girl!.ico"

try without the '!' as this may be an invalid character.

    >>LoadIcon(GetModuleHandle(NULL), MAKEINTRESOURCE(IDI_MYICON))

this has been depreciated by LoadImage()
