Unhappy CE and VB... oh the horror..

    Umm... hey all..

I need to write a small VB application for a Compaq iPAQ running Windows CE, reportedly running version 3.0.

Problem is, I'm not sure of the tools I need to do it. I have VB 6.0 and the CE toolkit for VB 6. SO... at this point, I've written a small application with just an exit button to try it out just like I would for a normal windows application. When you click the button, it does nothing. (On the iPAQ, that is)

Am I doing something wrong? Do I need something else? I've read about some of the limitations in this forum when writing for CE... but I think I'm safe with my little "exit program"...

Any help would be appreciated from you gurus out there. Thanks in advance!!

You're using the wrong tools. The iPAQ runs on Windows CE 3.0, so you need the Microsoft eMbedded Tools. You can download or order them from the MSDN Web site, or you can get them as part of your MSDN subscription.

Thanks... I kinda figured something wasn't right. The only reason I thought I had everything, is because a former IT coordinator that worked here had created several applications for his own iPAQ and these are the only tools he left behind. Maybe I'll have to look around some more.

For curiosity's sake.... that stuff wouldn't be on the latest MSDN cds, would it? I'm guessing not, but I'm not at work right now so I can't look.

Thanks so far tho... I may be back for more..
