    lowlevel reading/writeing disks

How can I read/write to floppy disks? I don't mean by writing to files, lets say I want to create a program that formats a disk I will need to write and read bytes from the disk.

I did this succesfully on linux when I wanted to recover one of my floppy disks. the commands I used were open/read/write. I don't know what to type in for the file to open in order to read/write to floppy disk. Maby in windows is difrent? May someone please tell me how I may do low-level reading/writing to floppy disks?

    Thanx in advance!
