    Problem in Calculator Program

I am writing a Calculator program in Visual C++. I am using a Dialog-Based Template for the purpose. My problem is I am unable to trap the WM_CHAR message in the program. So my Calc cannot use the Numpad.
I am also unable to trap the WM_KEYDOWN message. Should I change the template to a SDI, or else, what should I do.
    Thanks in advance.

What control do you use as the keypad? One solution is an editbox. Now, add an onchange handler for the editbox.
