    menu physical height

im trying to position an edit control so that it covers the whole client area exactly. but with a menu bar at the top, GetClientRect() is not returning the right values. it does not account for the height of the menu bar, ie, my edit box stretches to below the bottom of the window. i cant have this, its unacceptable . what is the code to get the exact height of a menu bar? im pretty sure i know how to get the height for an owner-drawn menu bar, but i have no clue for standard menus.

Resize your controls in the parent's WM_SIZE handler.
