Do you know where on the 'net the files are?
Or do you want to search the whole 'net for a file?

Look at FTP or WSA or .....

Need more info (how often, why, where, etc) to give any meaningful answer.

i wanna search the web for jpg bmp image files. The user might give a key word, and the app should find series of pictures according to the keyword. Then the app should be able to download the files.

And i have no clue how to search the web using C++ code

You want to create an internet search engine? (even if only limited to BMP images this is not a small or simple undertaking.)

I am not sure it can be done (by someone who has to ask on a forum) in C++.

You could try looking the Google AJAX Search API in a .NET app.
