... 5th edition, Charles Petzold (ISBN: 1-57231-995-X)
It's good.
gg
Its the authoritative text on the subject. I'm sure anyone here will recommend it.
I am still new to programming windows but Petzold is a very good book to use. I also like Herbert Schildt's Windows 98 Programming from the Ground Up. Petzold is much more technical and in-depth than Schildt's.
Schildt's book gives many more examples on how do use different features but without as much technical background.
If you are going to get one or the other, start with Petzold...it will give you a better foundation. If you want to program in windows quickly, get Schildt.
Both of these books are still very relavent to Windows XP and maybe Vista as well, but I'm not sure of that.
