Console based IRC Client for Windows?

I've been searching all day now, but it seems that there are no console based IRC clients for Windows, there is a million of them for UNIX and Linux though! (How ironic, the only reason i'm not using Linux is the small software pool)

I've been trying to get Cygwin and some of the Linux IRC clients to play ball for quite a while now, but i'm not that much into this stuff and i keep getting errors about missing libraries, and dll files.

Does anyone know of a Console based IRC client - FOR WINDOWS! Or maybe someone can help me get Weechat or ..........X to work with Cygwin?

Edit: Didn't realize this board had a profanity filter, anyways, the client i was referring to was B!tchX.

I don't know about console-based ones, but you can find a bunch of GUI ones for Windows that are more or less free.

Does it have to be console based?

Yea, there's plenty of GUI based IRC clients for windows, atm i'm using mIRC, but i'd like to try a console based one. Although i have to admit it doesn't seem to be worth all the work getting it to work under Windows.

mIRC is the defacto standard for Windows, although, tbh, I would like to write my own some day.

I doubt a console one would be popular for Windows, but I suppose it's possible.

There's at least one already pre-built for cygwin, did you try that one?
If you dance barefoot on the broken glass of undefined behaviour, you've got to expect the occasional cut.
If at first you don't succeed, try writing your phone number on the exam paper.

I just chose the default settings during the setup, never actually cared to go through the packages, quite stupid of me i guess. Where was all these packages installed, how would i launch them?

    1. Either /bin or more likely /usr/bin
    2. From the command line, where else

There is no program called naim in /bin, and /usr/bin is empty, so i guess this means i will have to run the setup again and include that client this time?

    2. From the command line, where else
    Obviously

If the setup program shows 'skip', as in the image I've posted, then you need to download it.

B I T C H X might compile under Cygwin. Have you tried it? If you get errors and post them here, maybe we can make it work. Just don't post 10 megabytes of errors, keep it simple

Well, at http://wwwb!itchx.com/download.php (Stupid profanity filter, just change the ! to an i) there is a link to some B!itchX binaries for Windows and Cygwin, but i'm not quite sure what to do with those files, i tried putting them in the cygwin folder and launching the .exe but i just get an error saying that cygwin1.dll is missing?
