    Question USB 2.0 drivers

    Hello:

I'm new so this is a question and my "hello" post. I am looking for usb 2.0 drivers for both my computer and my grandmas. So far I have been looking on www.driverguide.com but haven't found much to work with. Maybe I'm looking at the wrong stuff though? My motherboard is an Asus P5GD2 Deluxe Socket 775. I don't know what my grandma's mb is yet, I have yet to tear it down abit and take a gander.

Any help would be greatly appreciated, hope this is the right place to post this.

    P.S.

I tried to install SP1 but that didn't help either computer. And if I remember correctly, SP2 has a bunch of junk in it that doesn't help anyone and only slows you down?

When talking about "USB drivers", you need to qualify that with what you've got connected to the other end of the cable.

The OS already knows how to talk to USB at the basic level, and already provides a set of standard drivers (memory sticks, common printers etc).

For any other commercial product, it should have an install CD with the appropriate drivers, or visit the web home site for the product.

If at first you don't succeed, try writing your phone number on the exam paper.

I think he is talking about his USB controllers, not actual USB devices.

Try using "Update Driver" in the device manager. That should grab the USB2 drivers from Windows Update.

I'm not sure where you heard that. If you're using XP, you need SP2.

    Hey:

Yes, sorry, I ment USB controllers. I have tried the update driver tactic but that didn't work, it can't find anything, and I don't know how to make it venture out in the world wide web, still kind of scared of wild 1's and 0's. I'll give SP2 a shot, hopefully that fixes my issues, if not, I'll go back to reading my C++ book I bought today .

Thanks for the replies so far.

    Hello:

I downloaded and installed SP2, and then went threw Device Manager and was able to get an update off the web for my USB drivers. This probably won't help but my version number is 5.1.2600.2180, and I think that is the most up-to-date one, but it still only reads out as vs 1.1? Am I still doing something wrong?
