    Question Printer locks up computer

I have an HP Deskjet 697C printer, and sometimes when I go to print my system slows down tremendously. Sometimes it's fine, others it's just really slow.

It seems to slow down the most when I print images that take a long time to print.

The computer is running Windows XP Pro with a 1.99GHz Celeron and 512MB RAM.

Has anybody ever had this happen or know what's causing this?

I actually found a solution from Microsoft via a Google search which said that this is a common problem with LPT printers. They said to fix this, use a USB printer.
