I know its easy to do using other programs but I want to know if you can splice two movie files(.mpg) together. I have two halves of a movie on my computer that I want to put into one big file. Using Windows Media Player can I do this?

Hmm... not with Windows Media Player, I don't think. As you said, there are programs that can do that, though. Infact, I think Windows comes with one standard.

windows movie maker?
Check out Window's Movie Maker.
Which should be in your Start Menu > Accessories > Entertainment folder.
You can do stuff with that, including uploading a couple of mpegs and merging them, though in the end you'll end up with a WMV file, which is, as you probably know, a much larger file size.
