c:\boot.ini access denied!
Well, I just got done reinstalling Win 2k Pro and Win XP Pro on my laptop. I installed win 2k on my 'd' partition and win xp on my 'e' partition. All my boot files are on my 'c' partition (ntdetect, boot.ini and ntldr). I guess I should mention c if a fat partition while my os'es are ntfs.
I installed all my updates for win 2k rebooting several times.
I then installed xp and installed my updates also rebooting several times.
Then it says upon boot up "ntdetect failed".
So I booted off of a floppy 'dr dos 7.02' and replaced ntdetect with a backup. Worked fine.
Upon my next boot it gave an error: 'boot.ini failed'
So I booted off my floppy again and tried to replaced boot.ini with a backup.
I get an error: 'access denied' 0 files copied.
anyone have an idea of why I am getting access denied messages? And how to fix it.
