    linux i586??

    My friend has a Linux for i586. And i was wondering if it will work on my P4 3.4Ghz Prescott socket 775.

    If you're confident that your P4 was manufactured after, oooh... let's say the first quarter of 1996, then yes it will work.

    Just installed it, but i dont have any sound. I Have a soundblaster audigy 2 ZS.

    Is there any drivers i have to install to get sound?

    alsa.

    try installing sndconfig ( with the deps it asks for )
    then running it, you can tell it what sound card you have.

    It says its a "Unknown Vendor|unknown" or something like that, and then unsupported?

    any other ideas for what i should do.

    Make sure you have the drivers compiled as a module or compiled into the kernel. If it is compiled as a module, then load the module with insmod.
