    Ad-aware?

disclaimer: i havent used windows in a long, long time. Ad-aware was free at one point, im just assuming it still is, even though it would be quicker to check rather than type all of this out... may the force be with you?

    Ad-Aware is free.
Try Spybot Search and Destroy, too.

    9k infections found
When they want you to pay money to have it removed, an ad-company cookie can be several types of infection.

Best anti-spyware program out there. I have never gotten any spyware, browser hijacks or even popups using the program, and it is free!

Microsoft? these are the ones who put the wild tangent spyware on the computer in the first place!

"Who let the rats out?" sang to who let the dogs out.

and " This download is available to customers running genuine Microsoft Windows. Please click Continue to begin Windows validation. " why should i let them in to veryify? this is what i wanted to avoid. why do they need to verify? just give ware if it is free no strings. <hissie fit>

i thought a few spyware on computer like 40 topsie. Nine thousand .... "Who let the rats out?"

    thank you

thats 3rd party aim software if im not confused.

you can skip the verification if you dont want them to verify that you stole their software before they give you some more for free...

Skip the MS stuff. Spybot S&D combined with Ad-aware is your best bet against spyware.

    Meow!

Registering for AntiSpyWare kinda defeats the porpous of antispyware. Found new oxymoron “registering for antispyware”

Downloaded spybot and sypbegone. Spybegone found 12 infections. So why xsoft and spydoctor find nine thousand?

Cookies. There are some that I do want to keep like the vbullitin cookies. They go good with milk.

CounterSpy did a free scan. I thought it was a free remover too but it wanted to purchase removal ware. And connect to internet. Umm no. it did not even ask if it could connect. Then it uppoped a requestor “get removal program”

AVG is a Buy now for $33.30 or $16.65 per year.

You mean so I can steel more spyware? Meow!

I believe there is a free version

of course there is a much easier solution to all of this.
Install a linux distro, my fav for novice users is Ubuntu.

    > I believe there is a free version

Yes, AVG is free for personal use.

    > So why xsoft and spydoctor find nine thousand?

So you'll buy their software. Use Spybot and Adaware, with MS's program if you feel the need to. There's no reason to use others, usually. All three of them are free.

spy >noun (pl. spies) 1 a person employed to collect and report secret information on an enemy or competitor. 2 a person or device that observes others secretly. >verb (spies, spied) 1 be a spy. 2 (spy on) observe furtively. 3 observe or notice. 4 (spy out) collect information about (something) before deciding how to act.
-ORIGIN from Old French espier 'espy'.

And might i add 5 to espy >verb (pl. espies) a program or programs to collect and report secret personal information on an victem inosent user or enemy or cometitor. a program a person a device (hard ware or soft ware) that observes others secretly. >verb (spies, spied) and sometimes with their corarsed agreement ie "you must agree to the licence to use our software" This crap on free software? and the "you must give email address to get authorization codes so the program will run" Now they want our private email address?

    How?
How? Meow! Now on to the how.

First i know that i was already hijacked by internet explorer because when i was looking in the contest board to see the programming contest one was a card game so i googled casienos to get the rules for the game i clicked a link and a casieno poped up then when i tryed to get back to the board the casieno kept poping up sumtimes unexpectidly. that happened with other sites i tried to get to. The url was changed and i was redirected with %whatever.js eventhought i had
turned off java and activex. ok with that in mind the first question that comes to mind is "Did i get to the real site?" How can you trust the web sites knowing you were just hijacked? did the "bad guys" set up an identical site? It has been done with credit card scams. and while you let them "the bad guys" site "verify" your computer what other information did they take? credit card numbers and personal info for identy theift and your private decryption keys and proggies you might be working on.

Lets say you or i did make it to the real site. microandsoft.com Why should i let them "Verify" for free software? What does their varification really do? As far as i can tell it checks for this value="321cd7a2-6a57-4c57-a8bd-dbf62eda9671" in the windows registy. Some sites require you to fil in the blanks in the required fields on their forms and one such field is email address. Ok you send it <not i> what do they need your email address for? A list of valid emails <dramatic pause> <wait for it> ... <wait for it> ... <wait for it> ... <wait for it> ... HELLO SPAM! They steel ... i mean sell your info to other companies with specific information on and about you. Why should big companies make money from meow email when i do not make a phreeking penny? Or with the "Verify" program they leave a trojan on your system to collect more info or whatever and i mean whatever. And that includes the "agree to" licences crap. At the very least they learn "How to sell you more stuff" from what you purchase.
