I'm pretty sure they are as well, but the mobo might not be able to recognize it. Some of the older mobos have weird designs, this one might be designed to only use the onboard video as it was a cheaper solution and wasn't intended to be upgradable.

what compaq didn't tell you was that that pc uses an AGeeP slot, compaqs own proprietary answer to modern graphics processing...

The graphics card that i'm trying to install is a All-In-Wonder 128 Pro 4x AGP with 32MB of ram. The card works because it works fine in my newest desktop. Is there a way to tell if this computer uses a proprietary AGP slot? Anyway, here is a link to the compaq computer.

FYI what I said was a joke, I pray to god compaq didn't go as far as to do something like that, but they did have their fair share of bad business moves...
anyway, I would try updating the bios first, then look through their self help section...sorry I can't be of more help but I'm currently in a rush

I've been trying a few different things to the computer and to see what it would do. In tried an older agp card a 4mb one made in 97 and the oldest thing happend. When i pressed the power button it sayed on for under a sec and then turn off. I press the power button a few more times and it still would turn on. So i just took out the card and tried again and the thing still didn't work. Next i tried taking out the ac power cord then press the button and put the card back in again and still no luck. Now i though i really messed the thing up. I though maybe i'll see if i disconnect the atx sp from the board and reconnect it would work. And luckly it did. Because i've tried 3 different agp card i though i would try to see if even a pci would work and it did. And i did try all this with the newest bios installed. Do you think the motherboard is damaged?

There is no way to tell. Call Compaq.
The agp slot on the board is chiped off on one end so pins where miss alined. I got that older 4mb agp card to work but i still have a problem with the all-in-wonder. The computer starts up with the card in it but the bios doesn't use it as the main card like the 4mb and the driver pack that i got from ati can't find it. So I was wondering if anyone knows if card should be compatible with the slot on the pc. The all-in-wonder says its a 2x/4x. Here are pics of the card and the slot.

Do you have the specs on the mobo? Does it support a 2x or 4x card?

but all it says is that it has one not what its speed it. Is it even possible to tell the speed by looking at it?
