    Power Supplies

I'm getting an upgrade and most of the PSUs I notice have fans on the back AND on the top. My case doesn't have a hole at the top - this may seem like a stupid question, are both fans necessary? Or is the top one optional, because I'm not getting a new case.

I would suggest that if there are fans fitted, they are required.

Could you perhaps ask tech support?

Umm.. are you sure the fan isn't on the back and the bottom? Most will have a fan on the bottom to pull air in from the CPU and push it out the back. And while that is good for your CPU and general heat managment... it's not so great for the PSU.

Are you sure the second fan is on the top side and not the bottom side of the casing? In the images you see on the sites it might look like that but when you position the SPU in your case, the second fan of the PSU will on the bottom and not on top.

I have a thermaltake true poswer PSU 560watt and it has 2 fans the second fan is on the bottom and not on top. Maybe depends on what brand you buy, but i doubt it would be on the top side.

edit: ober got me heeh, i wont answer the door next time if i dont finish my post lol.

hey, depending on how experienced with electronics, you could upgrade it yourself. What exactly is the upgrade for and do you have a site or name of your psu? I am currently designing 1 for myself. A pic or details of your psu would help probly...thx l8er

Bugger, didn't think of that. In the pic, the fan is on the top and I've seen cases with fan holes on the top so I put 2 and 2 together and made... 5, it seems.

Anyway, I've ordered one with only one fan, now, to be sure...
