    lanscape/portrait printing in IE

Ok, so I converted a lot of data handling and reporting from Access to a PHP/XHTML web based setup here at work. Some of the reports are in landscape, some are in portrait.

Since I can't control their printer settings, people are complaining that it is harder to get the reports to print out (because they have to change their printer settings all the time. Access did it for them).

So my question is, has anyone found or used some sort of IE toolbar or even coded a control that would handle this sort of thing? I'm thinking there has to be some way to do this (hopefully without making everyone install something). I'd even be willing to make them use ActiveX if that is what it comes down to.

    Help They may crucify me.

Google leads to here. Server side PDF is also a possibility.

I've considered PDFs, and have toyed with that option in the past, but that is just one more thing they have to deal with.

And nearly all of my data is tabular data, so while the specific link you posted provides a hack for that, it requires IE 6+ and that would mean I have to go around checking all the cell computers to see if they are updated and updating them if they're not (and I know for a fact that half of them are running 5.5 or worse).

There isn't going to be an easy way out of this...

Most configurations of IE5 are no longer supported, which means there are in-the-wild exploits for outstanding security vulnerabilities.

Anyway, this time Google leads here.

Sweet. That might actually do the trick. This is exactly what I was looking for.

EDIT: and just FYI, I had tried google and paged through several different sets of results... I guess I just hadn't used the right keywords or clicked on the right result.

    Thank you very much.
