cygwin help

hi all
i needed to do some compilation with unix function like fork() and stuff
so i went to download cygwin

but i do not seemed to be able to work there
there issn't folder for me work with and stuff
i cannot do the simple gcc command also

i used to have a home folder which i am work with in cygwin shell
but now nothing seems to work
even simple command like dir does not work

any idea where i go wrong?

Hmm. Did you install it right? Clik the little circle thing with the arrows on it untill everything says Install. You should only have to clik it once.
