    Desktop background

Is there a way to stop windows XP home from loading every picture in the my pictures folder every time you go to properties > desktop to change the background? i have loads of pictures now and it slows down the scroll bar a lot and its very difficult to find the few wallpaper pictures that i have.

    thanks in advance

seriously...If you have the view setting on thumbnails rather then large icons in my pictures I don't see how going to that could have any possible advatages.

To answer your question, no. Try moving some of the pictures or all the pictures. How hard is it to find the pic you want before going in there, and then using the "browse" feature to find the one you want?

Having it "not load" some of the pictures is against what it is there for in the first place.

I know there is a way to change the default folder for backgrounds but for the life of me I can't think of it. For now, I'd have to agree with ober. The easiest way to fix your problem would be to just move all your pictures to another folder then just browse to the one you want to use. From what I remember, XP uses "My Pictures" folder as the default. XP also saves desktop settings when you shut it down.

You might want to go into your display properties, under "Desktop" click on "Browse", select another folder, click "OK" and reboot to see if XP saves your desktop settings and moves to that folder as a default.

Don't know if that will work but I've somehow changed my default folder but it's been so long I don't remember how it was done.

I cant remember for certain but TweakUI for Win XP may have an option to change the MyPictures folder.

You can get TweakUI from here: http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/d...powertoys.mspx

    Sorry if it doesnt help!
