    temperature rises

i have a 1.8 gigz AMD, my case has a thermometer built onto it, when i first got this computer it would hardly ever get up to 100 degrees, sometimes when i play intense games itll go to 100. wich is understandable, but now lets say i am just leaving my computer on running no programs but AIM and MSN.. it manages ot heat up to 102. i know its not a big difference but it IS getting hotter, and it slowly raising with slighty different daily average temperates going up. i used ot leave on my machine 24/7 but not i turn it off when i go to school since this has been happening thinking it might fix the problem if i give it breaks from running all the time. i know this is just a few degrees over the typical 95ish but iunno, am i just making a deal out of nothing? this computer is maybe 2-3 months old

edit: also i do a good job of keeping spyware and viruses off it unless something gets by undeteced..

    thats not celcius right.

reason why it is heating up is because:

    - Your Fan has slowed down
    - Dust Bunnies

: Try to keep ur cpu not on the floor.

I had the same problem a while back. I just got a can of inert gas from an electronics store and did a thorough cleaning. That goes along with what dayknight is suggesting, so try it out.

if it is 100 fahrnheit.... you really have nothing to worry about, yet as that is only 40 C. AMD can handle roughly up to 50-55 C.
there used to be something here, but not anymore

Hi I just wanted to add according to a AMD their CPU temprature threshold is somewhere close to 70 celcius.
Anyway as mentioned cleaning the system or adding a fan may resolve heating issues.

well Amd CPU (Barton) can withstand 70*C, and my 2500+ withstood over 100*C.

Is that the motherboard or CPU temp? If that's the CPU temp, then you're doing really good. My AMD 1.2GHz Thunderbird runs around 125-130 F consistently. When I game, I've seen it go up as high as 145/150. You really have nothing to worry about.

its computer temperature, though cpu temp when i check it isusually about the same.

the case has 2 fans on it, one on the side blowing in and one on the top blowing out.

i just cleaned it up some today its been stayin below 100. i think i just worry too much about it casue im always able to look at its temperature cause its RIGHT there ya know

ever had it happen to a customer? that's not so good stuff. Never ever ever buy a case that has the psu mounted vertically, because you're going to have to buy a new case as soon as summer comes....
