    TI-83 help?

Ok, so a friend of mine apparently tried to link up with another kid at school and install some games and his Ti-83 got messed up. Today on the bus he asked me for help since I'm technology literate person that he knows. So I get home, and turn it on and get this message..

Waiting... Please install calculator software now.
Simple enough I figure. Probably corrupted or overwrote something. So I link up my Ti-83 to his and try to do a transfer with both the SendOS and the Back up ones. Well when I do that, his calc says there is an xfer error and needs to restart. The calculator cannot get past that first message thing. I've tried doing a RAM reset and also taking out all the batteries. No luck. Any further info, as I have lost my bible they called the Ti-83 handbook.

    Question

When you say all batteries, did you also take out the lithium battery. If you did then I suggest re-loading the OS from your home computer to calc if possible. My guess is your friend loaded a program or OS not built for the 83 itself, anyways Good luck!

In other words, if you teach your cat to bark (output) and eat dog food (input) that doesn't make him a dog. It would have to chase cars, chew bones, and have puppies before I'd call it Rover ;-)

Try holding the clear or negative button or both. I forget the combo but it resets the entire calculator.

    Have you tried a hammer?

(actually I think taking out the lithium battery should work because that will wipe out the ram, restoring defaults)
    PHP and XML
    Let's talk about SAX

Check out ticalc.org. They have pretty much everything you'd want to know there.

I've tried taking out the lithium battery, but it wont pop out. I unscrewed the top part holding it in, and tried to bang/pull/wedge it out. Won't budge.

    The hammer fixed it.
