Installing another OS

I have linux mandrake 9.1 and windows xp installed using the lilo boot loader and I want to install windows 2000 on another disk partition. I suspect the installation would overwrite the bootloader but i would like to know if the windows xp installation would be ok.

oops, i didn't realize it was on the same drive...ooook

Make a lilo boot disk so that you can still access xp and linux. Install 2000 and get it running. Reboot and put in the boot floppy, go into linux, and add an entry for 2000 in /etc/lilo.conf and then run /sbin/lilo .

I'm not installing to another drive. It's one drive but a different partition.

I had trouble creating the lilo boot disk so I went ahead and installed windows 2000 without it. It installed ok but windows xp is not booting. The windows xp files are still there but it seems the boot loader is not recognising it for some reason. Any ideas on how I can get XP running again?
