    FTP problems...

For some reason, whenever I try to connect to an FTP site, it doesn't work. However, yesterday, I was able to connect to a certain FTP site. But today it isn't working.

I'm on Windows ME, and it isn't working in Firefox, FTP Explorer, or IE.

Could somebody tell me what the problem is, minus the fact that I'm using ME?

    EDIT:

I removed the FTP site because it could put my friend at legal risk.

Can you connect when use the ftp shell command? (open command prompt and type: ftp <ftp site>)
Are you behind a router or a proxy?

I'm behind a D-Link router. And it doesn't work in the command prompt.

What error message do you get?
Can the router you have act as a proxy? If so is it setup to allow connections on the apprioate ports?

"The connection was refused when attempting to contact ftp://24.127.155.84/" is the error mesage in Firefox. In FTP Explorer, it connects, but doesn't show anything.

My dad set up my router, so I'm not positive about the settings.

PM me the details and I'll try to connect to it. Either that or try using a decent FTP client instead of a web browser: www.smartftp.com

It's not his problem... the host doesn't have something configured correctly.

Sounds like the / directory isnt set right, or the privlages arent right. Tell him to reboot and see what happens. Definitly the host.
