    putting in an AGP slot

Ive got this almost completely empty dell motherboard with three PCI slots and no AGP slot. I can see where you can snap one in. I have an old motherboard with a brown AGP slot. Can i pull the agp slot off the old motherboard and snap it onto the new one? would it work? or is it a really bad idea? thanks

I really don't think so. Sounds odd. They probably have it there for manufacturing reasons. If someone orders it they can easily sauder it in, if not, well you have what you have.

No you cannot just "snap it in"... wtf? You have to have it soldered in and all sorts of connections have to be made and the motherboard has to support AGP. Where do you get these ideas???

    /me laughs at linuxdude

Xterria: you can't just 'snap' it in... like ober said, it has to be soldered in, but he didn't mention that it probably has to be done by a machine... I doubt a human could do the job...

but by all means, please try to solder this into place: http://pc.watch.impress.co.jp/docs/a...991008/agp.jpg

Actually, I bet it could be done by a human, but the problem is, if your mobo doesn't already have an AGP slot, that probably means that nothing was hard-wired into the board to even allow the connections, let alone interface with the card.
