Manually Changing Display Resolution on Win98?

I'm helping a cousin over the phone, so I don't have a 98 machine in front of me. I read that there's a display.txt file; how can I can you change the display resolution manually, without using the desktop properties dialog?

Why can't you get into the display properties dialog?
Naturally I didn't feel inspired enough to read all the links for you, since I already slaved away for long hours under a blistering sun pressing the search button after typing four whole words! - Quzah

I think that it was just such a low resolution that they couldn't move it or see it. I thought of maybe using the alt/control buttons in maybe moving it, but I guess they can't. Is there any other way?

ask him to boot in safe mode... that sets the resolutio which can be viewed and from there reset the reolution to what ever you want...

to boot into safe mode press F8 while booting youwill get a menu and select safe mode from there..... Jope i am not being too obvious..

I would not suggest editing the registry to change your resolution. Booting into safe mode seems to be the best option.
