    Mobile Phones and Cellular Services

    Hello,

I am planning to by a mobile phone and subscribe to a cellular service.

What are some of the best mobile phones (makes and models) today? I hear Nokia is best.

Who offers the best, most reliable celluar service? Price is not a problem given that the service is best. AT&T?

Where is a good place to buy find these mobile phone(s) and service(s)?

I know someone who went with Verizon. I think the phone is also made by Verizon. Either the phone is bad or the service is bad because there is heavy static when talking from long distance such as out-of-state (say Las Vegas to Los Angeles).

The reason I am asking this questions is because of the bad experience described above.

    Thanks,

    Kuphryn

I've heard that sprint has some of the clearest calls. Nextel is great...if you're in their coverage area, which is pretty sparse in some places. So go sprint or verizon.

I have Verizon and they seem to have the best coverage that I've found (on the east coast anyways...). Motorola phones are ok, but they had problems in the past with a few models. The LG (Qualcomm I think) phones seem to be a good buy also.

You may want to look at AT&T/Cingular as they are joining together and should have the best coverage in the US.

I always go with Nokia (always worked great for me).

Right now I use a 6310i...not the most swanky model by a long shot and a bit old now but it has what I want (Bluetooth, GPRS, InfaRed, Java)
