    amd stock fans suck!!

AMD Stock fans suck!, I just replaced the stock fan on my 2100+ with a zalman 3000+. My idle CPU temperature ( no joke ) went from 55C to 34C. Not mentioning the noise difference. I can compute in silence.

Why does amd make these god awful fans, and then force you to use them to keep your warranty? My guess, cause they know your chip is going to burn out shortly after the warrranty period expires and your going to have to buy another one. With the thunderbirds, you had to buy a $40-$50 fan to keep them going for any length of time, even then I know a lot of people who had theirs burn out after 18mths.

    Next PC I'm going P4

thats ludacris. My current rig is my second amd machine and both of them have out done the 6 or 7 pentium pc's i have had, including p4. Fans come only as good as they need to be within factory demand.

    Really?

I work in an electronics store, we also sell a lot of consumer electronics. You would be amazed how many products fail between 14 - 18 months. It is mostly just the cheaper brands ie: teac, audioline; but the timing is amazing.

It makes buisiness sense doesnt it?

Electronics in general do burn out, but AMD processors are as good as the next, and have less RMA's reported than other makers.

This board isnt the place for an anti/pro amd rally.

I'm not anti AMD, I have 2 systems running amd processors. I am just being a conspiracy theorist... dont get so serious.

Edit: But their fans do suck

just because you work somewhere doesn't mean you know much about what you sell...

whats your problem? I never said i did, I said we get heaps of stuff go faulty after about 18 mnths of use. Read the post again.

Put 2 and 2 togethor... Cheap brand = cheap parts = poor quality. The products are made to last their warranty period, no more, that is what i am saying. I am not trying to have a competition to see who knows the most, because i really don't care. But I can stay on topic, and make a sensible reply without pointlessly having a go at someone, which is something you obviously cant do major_small.

did you ever think that maybe it costs more to time something to break when the warranty is over than just build it?

and it doesn't make good business, because if your product lasts and works well, you get more customers... I assure you Intel didn' t become a multi-billion dollar company by timing their processors to break down when the warranty expired...

yeh i'm not saying they did, but when you got all smart arse and started calling me an idiot i was refering to teac and audioline whos products rarely, and i am not exagerating, last 3 years. However sony products last a lot longer, but you pay more for them. Anyone with RA experience in these brands will tell you that.

Note the word guess, if you dont agree you dont have to be rude

Most of Sony's audio equipment is crap. Their ES/Elevated Standard line is probably of pretty good spec...but they're too name brandish/consumer/main stream for me.

i have heard that before, we don't really deal in audio equipment though, it's more tvs and dvd players where sony and panasonic are the leading brands

TVs, yes. I'm going with http://www.rotel.com for my source decks. I believe the DVD player I'm interested in is $700. Surely your aware of high-end companies like B&W, Rotel, Mark Levinson, Krell, and so on?
