    bandwidth limitations with apache

hey, i'm using apache2.x for my webserver. The problem is, when a lot of people are using my website, it lags my other servers BAD. I've heard of modules like mod_throttle, but they're only for apache 1.3, not to mention linux. I'm using windows xp professional with my apache. Is there any other way i can set a maxrate-type bandwidth limitation? thanks

I think it can be done internally through the windows registry, try www.winguides.com
theres all sorts of registry tweaks there.

no not apache, look through the keys for limiting network bandwidth in windows. Don't even let apache do it, it's not that stable on windows.

    >>> it's not that stable on windows.

Mine has been running under XP for more then a year without obvious problems.

it's not that stable on windows compared to what it is on linux...and I don't mean to say that it's bad on windows, it's just that it's not neccessarily as stable to run a server on a windows box than on a linux box because, well, it's windows. I have no choice but to run it on windows here at school (yeah it's on xp too) but I've had to restart it probably 4 times in the last month because it freaks out and does something wrong....I'm running 2.0x so that could be contributing to it as well, but I needed that for more features too so I was kinda struck.

    SOMEONE PUT OUT THE FIRE!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Damn you guys would think your 3 year olds or something..

If you want to limit traffic through apache I beleive theres some settings in the httpd.conf file that you can tweak to do that. If not bandwidth max cons per minute or something, I haven't needed to do this in a while.

that sounds about right...but incoming packet size makes a difference too in bandwidth...but I don't know if that has a .conf entry
