    Headphones

I have a band trip to Canada in a few weeks, and I really don't want to hear the rest of the band members on the bus, so I'm looking for a good pair of noise-cancelling headphones. I don't really have any idea what is good and what I can get for a fair price, so maybe someone here has some advice.

I just started looking on the internet, and hopefully I'll get out to an electronics store soon, but so far I've looked at Bose "Quiet Comfort" headphones and they are a bit too expensive for me. I'm hoping there is at least a decent pair of noise-cancelling (not just low frequencies) headphones for less than $150...

Edit: I'm looking at some Sennheiser stuff now, and it looks a lot better. Especially the HD270 on this page.

Shove some cotton wool in your ears and you will be ok.

    It will be cheaper.

Get a set of foam ear plugs and then a pair of standard ear protection style thingies (sorry can't think of its proper name). The two combined will keep the noise level low.

Stay away from Bose. Sennheiser all the way in my personal opinion.

I bought a $30 pair of AIWA headphones to hold me off until I look into which Sennheiser models interest me, and these are pretty good as is! No audio adjustments needed. Straight off the receiver/cd player, and they'll be dangerous to your hearing before they sound bad, and can handle bass CDs at excessive volumes. They are very light weight and you easily forget about them, and they fit very comfortably. http://www.us.aiwa.com/default.asp?p...Product&prod=8 I am a stickler for sound quality BTW. I use B&W speakers.

But I bought these headphones at Best buy, and, something from Sennheiser interests me, to you know, get that "premium."

    Either way, recommended, and cheap!

Well I ended up going with Sennheiser, but actually I'm going to return the one I originally ordered after realizing it wasn't what I wanted and going with a different model at about the same price...Hopefully it turns out good

It should turn out good. Reply telling me what you thought of the unit, model number, and try to be articulate in your personal review. PM me with that information when you get a chance. I'd like a heads up on Sennheiser models. I'm looking to spend $200-$300 though.

Heh, well turns out my dad is going to buy me the headphones and he's going to keep the pair I was going to return, so I'll have a review of two headphones...Should have a review of one of them this week (paid for 3 day shipping)...I've heard you are supposed to play the headphones for 24 hours or something to burn them in--is that true?

Well, people say the same thing about speakers, as far as a burn-in period goes. I'm skeptical, as it's a mechanical, or electronic device that is immediately ready for optimum use at the max an hour, so I would probably say, YOU get burnt-in, not the speakers/headphones.

Overall, a change does happen! I had it with my B&W 604 S3s, I just don't know which change happens..

I burn in of most most devices isn't a burn in for optomization but for error detection. Most errors caused by an error in the creation will normal manifest in the first 24 hours of serious usage. Obviously this isn't true for errors caused by the breakdown of the components over time.

When we were doing the computer repair class we had to run the computers through a diag program for a period of 24 hours. Kinda interesting to see the logs of what failed during that period.
