    IIS Problem

Well, I'm not sure whether this is the right section to post but I need help urgently..

I'm not sure what happened but my IIS5.0 (XP Pro SP1) just died. Every ASP file executed will give me Error 500 - Internal Server Error. It was still fine the other day. I tried uninstall IIS and reinstall but the problem still persist. Any way to fix it besides formatting my computer? I need to finished up my project.

    Thanks in advance!

sorry but it could be anything
iss has about 1000000000000000000000000000 different security holes in it. you my want to check your access logs and see if anyone hit you with a dos or something. i dont have it on any of the pc's here but Ethereal(a pro network sniffer) picks up about 30 dos attempts a day.

    WTF?
If you don't have it, how does it pick up attempted DoS attacks?
    I smell BS.

Netboy, right click the websites folder in your IIS console. Make sure the appropriate permissions are set to allow your pages to run.
    PHP and XML
    Let's talk about SAX

ethereal has many many many many different pages about it. loades of them have filters. you can even add your own protocoles to it and it will read the results to you.

i've used iss before and i couldnt keep hackers out so i trashed it.
every other week i could check the access logs and see where someone exec. root shells from shells/process with restricted access.
btw the logs where on a different pc isolated from the network.
(little tricks with the cat5 cable making it recv only)

To get the actual errors (IE only), Tools>Internet Options>Advanced>Uncheck "Enable Friendly HTTP Error Messages".
Naturally I didn't feel inspired enough to read all the links for you, since I already slaved away for long hours under a blistering sun pressing the search button after typing four whole words! - Quzah
