    proxies

    I'm running Windows XP (home edition), and I've been getting a bunch of spam, and using alot of FTP. How do I use a proxy for that? I know you can just go to Internet Options and select the proxy for http, but what about ftp and all those?

    by default it uses the same proxy server for all transactions. If you click the advanced button you can select to override and use individual servers.

    ::edit::
    should have been more clear, that's just for IE

    Ok, we need a little more info. What are you using to do your FTP transfers? Do you have a firewall? Can you setup filters in your email that will stop the spam?

    I dunno. May just be me, but I seem to get more spam the more I use FTP. Also I'm not using an FTP client. Just regular MS-DOS command prompt. IS there an FTP client I can use that I can set a proxy setting in?

    there are TONS of FTP clients that you can set a proxy in:

    This is the one I use: www.smartftp.com

    The UI is excellent and I've been very happy with its performance. And there should be no way that you are getting an increase in spam because of using FTP, unless you are logging into a lot of servers anonymously using your email address.
