    Windows upgrade snag

    Hi
Im trying to upgrade from Me to 2000, all goes well until after I press F8 to accept the license. Setup then tells me it was unable to detect a previous version of windows and Im not allowed to upgrade. Have I lost a file somewhere? Cheers for any help you can give.

I have the same issue with my computer (it's installed, but doesn't find it). Do you have the orignal Win ME CD? Not a restore CD from like Gateway/Dell/HP etc... but the real Windows CD? If so, you can just pop that in the CD-ROM.

If not, borrow somebody elses. You already own Windows so you shouldn't get screwed out of an upgrade just because you don't have a real Windows CD.

    I did a little search

ME is not supported for upgrades, but here's what is:

    2000/98/95/NT 3.51 and 4.0

So maybe just find somebody with one of those CD's? I've never done a Win 2000 install so I'm not positive on that, but to the best of my knowledge, all an upgrade needs is some sort of proof of an older version of Windows.
