    Question upgrade computer ?

Having a problem upgrading my computer....I have bought a bigger hard drive(120GB)...I fdisked, formated(ntfs) and installed WinXP on another computer........when I try to put it in the my computer...I get a black screen talking about Windows did not start, various reasons given, option to start in ..safe mode...normally...and several other options, but to use any of them results in the same screen comming back...
Never had a problem swapping hard drives from computer to computer before.....is there something new I'm missing

Could the MBR be screwed up? Is the disk on the right IDE channel? There could be alot of reasons for this, check your bios and make sure the boot order is correct. Consider reinstalling your OS on the hardware you want it to run on.

Yeah ! everything is right in bios etc...But I think I've found the problem...
On another board I got these replys.......

In my experience, XP will only set up if you are using a motherboard with the same chipset. I have tried many, many times with no success. ME on the other hand, will re-set itself up on any machine with any motherboard.
they don't want you loading up on the original box, registering it (it checks hardware configuration to make sure it is the original box), then pulling the harddrive and putting it in your buddies box. . .
So as info to all..about XP

i don't remember links, but search for replacing motherboard and windows xp on google. There are links on how to prepare your OS for a switch to a new motherboard and hardware setup. I've done it with xp and it works, but i can't find my instructions, sorry. Anyway it's not too painful, and it works so i'd say go for it if you can find the links again.
