Mm, maybe no video driver installed, and the default isn't compatible with the laptop's LCD screen... WindowsXP seems to come with support for just about everything (except for my motherboard's drivers... ), so you might consider that unless you don't feel like buying a copy just to test it out.

    >>WinME.
    lol, yup.

Does windows actually work? Is it just color problems or is there something really wrong? If it's just colors go to the website of whoever makes your laptop. If windows doesn't work format and try a different OS. If you don't have a different version of windows, dont' buy one, there's still a possibility the laptop could be messed up somehow, just d/l linux or *bsd.

Hehe if windows doesnt work, throw the obviously damaged machine away.

windows not working could be as simple as a bad ram stick. I've had that numerous times. I was just trying to help him narrow down the possible problems. A bad install would be the first thingto check.

    >>it was the memory

hey all right! memory's always the easiest fix, but it has the most annoying problems associated with it. I had a computer that constantly had "invalid page faults" if you don't think of it as memory pages you never figure out whats wrong. It kept saying it couldn't find himem.sys (when really himem ran, found out memory was bad, but it wouldn't tell me that it just said dos couldn't run it) and then it said "windows registry error, reinstall windows"....all over a stinkin stick of memory....well i've reminisced long enough, glad you've got it working. Have a good one.

not to be critical, isn't it laptop, as in something on top of yours lap, when you sit. I am assuming when named they were thinking of sitting indian style. Wait have to be politicaly correct, cross-legged.

I disagree. People don't "sit on your lap" when you're sitting cross-legged, as I imagine it would be rather painful But yes, laptop. As I was saying earlier, cough cough
