Naturally I didn't feel inspired enough to read all the links for you, since I already slaved away for long hours under a blistering sun pressing the search button after typing four whole words! - Quzah

Could it be the same lil youngin from atvsource? o yes, yes it can.
Why dont you just delete the file/ see what it has corrupted and get new files?

Totally unhelpful! Try posting something sensible.
Now, what trojan do you have? What are the file names? Which AV quarantined it?
If NAV (or even other) go to symantec site first for removal instructions. If that doesnt work, post the details I asked for above.
Such is life.
he was.... half the time it is easier to format than to try and spend a week fixing a trojan that might never really be gone.Totally unhelpful! Try posting something sensible.
Besides, newly formatted machines are great. All that free space to store new stuff on mmmmmmmm.

No, it is not helpful to format. Why choose the last resort first?
He may not be able to back up important stuff etc, may not have the relevant driver discs, or even no copy of windows!
Suppose some freak is going to say install linux next as per usual.

That should have alreay been done. I learnt that one the hard way.He may not be able to back up important stuff
Maybe I just like formatting because my machine gets cluttered with all sorts of crap. Files that won't go away, are not used anymore, Programs that wont fully uninstall. Once I get a virus, its usually a good excuse to format and get a clean box. And we all know how nice a clean box is

Once I get a virus? Why not get good Fwall, get regular updates for AV/Windows, and you should NOT get one!
Such is life.
cause I can't afford one. Got to many other things I have to pay for that come first. Why not get good Fwall
I do update on a regular basis. the problem seems to me that the updates from microcrap come once it is too late.

Away.
I will have to check into that when I get the time. I wish each day had 48 hours in it instead of only 24 then maybe I could find the time to do everything I want to instead of living on 3 or 4 hours of sleep a day (along with lots of coffee).
