    hehe

I know none cares but I finally got Linux installed on my computer without obliterating everything! Its installed nicely with my Windows and I have a backup of EVERYTHING and a nice edition of Linux in a Nutshell and Slackware I'm so happy today even though I can't find my internet connection on it though

    I don't care.

(j/k) If you're on a LAN with a permanent connection, just start Mozilla or Konquerer or whatever the browsing client is...

I guess I'm on a LAN. I run a cable connection through my USB port

In that case you need drivers for the cable modem on the usb port, and they probably don't make them for linux... why don't you run it through a nic?

What is that? I have an install disk for my cable modem. Which is all it came with.

Yeah... umm... instead of running a USB cable from your modem to the computer, run an ethernet (cat5) cable from your modem to an ethernet card (nic/network card) in your computer. That should ensure that it works with Linux........
    Away.

chances are good that the install disk contains windows binaries (.exe) and thus is no good to linux. check the manufacturers web site to see if there are linux drivers.
