    IE doesn't cache :/

I'm using WinXP on a "user" account and IE doesn't seem to cache images on websites - at least not all images.
On the admin account it works just fine.

Any ideas ? This is pretty annoying as of late since the internet has become so slow, thanks to SoBig.

Have you checked internet settings for that specific user? Check those.
The keyboard is the standard device used to cause computer errors!

It's set to "automatic". The user has also full access to "temporary internet files".
IE caches some files, just not all. Sometimes the files are cached but not used, almost as if the cached data were corrupt or outdated or something.
I also tried moving temporary internet files to a different location as well as wiping the folder.
I just don't understand what wrong with that thing.

edit: I actually gave mozilla firebird a try. first problem: english language, no language setting. reason enough not to use it :/
second problem: it "skinnable" (is that the word)? I hate application skins. Thats why I use foobar instead of winam or Miranda instead of ICQ

real edit: ouch.... hit quote instead of edit. ... it's not even late at night

there are twenty or so other browsers that are better than internet explorer, but these should be sufficient.

Lynx is a text browser for the World Wide Web.
Hmmm... he probably doesn't want that.

And why not lynx? It has none of the problems of other browsers, and who wants to see a bunch of loud annoying pictures and prety colors anyways?! GIVE US CONSOLE! CONSOLE FOREVER!

I suppose it would solve his problem...

I guess I'll just stick with buggy IE then.

Better an IE that fails to use it's cache than a browser that can't fail to use it's cache because it doesn't support graphics

    Thanks for trying though.

Try changing your user account to power user...it's closer to admin, but still limited (not sure why you're limiting yourself to user if you're a programmer.... )

Almost forgot, to do that you'll need to log on as an admin and run the Computer Management Console, find the users area, right click, do properties, and change what group the user is a member of...if you don't see power user in the list, go to groups, do the same only add a member to that group, then remove that member from the previous group it was in.

Thanks for the idea, but I wanted this account to be user only. users don't have write access to the windows or programs folder. It's a bit safer than browsing with IE on an admin account, although it probably doesn't make that much of a difference because there are so many holes in windows security that viruses or worms can acquire admin priviledges without a problem.
Anyway, I just don't want to be logged in as admin all day.
