    Nitty Gritty User Acounts?

    I'm using winxp pro sp1
My little brother is using a limited account, and sometimes games not designed for xp won't run. They work fine on an administrative accoutn, i've been told this is because of certain restrictions on the user group. What i want to know is, if i create a new group to put him in, how do i change ALL of the options for that group? How do i modify their permissions? I've searched the web and come up empty, but i know it can be done, i've seen it doen. Anyone know of sites telling how to do it? Registry keys to edit? Anything. Thanks everyone.

How about just running in compatability mode?

Some games require to be run on a full administrative account in order to work, so just changing his permissions probably won't do the job.
Naturally I didn't feel inspired enough to read all the links for you, since I already slaved away for long hours under a blistering sun pressing the search button after typing four whole words! - Quzah

So the best solution seems to be give him an administrator account and threaten him with death if he messes anything up. Or you could just not let him play those games.

yeah right, that'd never happen, all he does on here is play games. Oh well, i made him a power user last night, hopefully that will help. But there's no way in hell im letting him be an administrator, when we had win98 i caught him in the registry a few times just deleting stuff... he said "i think these are viruses cause i don't know what they are so im deleting them for you" he was deleting all the 394208523ddkfja-3908kfa kinds of keys...needless to say i had to reinstall windows later that day.

You could always rearrange the system a bit. Move regedit elsewhere, or rename it and make a new regedit.exe that asks for a password before running the renamed program. Give him some nice desktop wallpaper that has "TOUCH THIS AND DIE" written in big letters.

In other words, where the operating system doesn't allow you to do something, change it (The reason why most of us are here, I'd assume)
