Alienware will rock a dell's world (not laptop wise) but im not sure on the support.
Alienware, hand's down. They tweak eveyr one of those systems according to the parts you buy - an alienware will benchmark a lot higher than a dell with the same hardware.
Away.
build your own
seirously, its alot of fun you learn some stuff and its cheaper than buying a dell/alienware
A-ware is the next best thing and has warrenty.
25% of my job is building/inserting | removing parts/fixing computers. I'd rather not even deal with hard ware except for pressing the power button.

Building a PC only takes a couple hours. Plus it will save you a ton of money!

It's really quite easy, plus it's cheap. Also, if you want to save money but keep performance you could even overclock. A 2.6C P4 would be more than enough to O/C to 3.2 GHz and save a ton of money in the process.
Alienware is nice, but too expensive. Dell even more so.
He doesnt want to build it, he has to do that at work.
That said, i still sya alienware.
Well, if you know how, then build it yourself! Unless you have money to burn, well, then alienware all the way.
dell has $$$$ed up mobo's and cases :| you cant upgrade a dell mobo...
You can upgrade a Dell. But be careful with them, they wont give you a normal Sound Blaster Card. And i love their cases, like how it swings open.
I tried to place a order with Alienware about Last Christmas, it didnt turn out well.
First off, its over priced. They get (almost) everything from one supplier, theres over a $800 difference(if you but from them instead). But they will do anything you ask and always have the newest stuff.
Then came billing, they cant do math. My system was supposed to be alittle over $3000, credit card showed almost $8000. They wanted to give me 2 systems, they didnt even have my specs. Then I called the company, the man couldnt speak english. I only ordered online, they said i called twice. It almost sounded like that wanted to add more to the bill. They gave me the run around.
Luckily the credit card company cancelled it right away(the bill, i was thinking that the card might have to be reported as stolen so i dont get screwed over).
Of course I havnt heard many complants with them, but the price alone means some one else. Other companies will give you there kool looking cases. Im not trying to say there that bad, but there not that great.
that is the problem the case is messed up and the holes will only allow for a dell motherboard! dont even dream swapping it into another case :| the front usb+phones and the size of the motherboard will make it impossible to fit in another caseYou can upgrade a Dell. Wo, didnt know that. I like how they have spare parts in there(the rails, i can never find those).that is the problem the case is messed up and the holes will only allow for a dell motherboard!
I like how my Gateway case doesn't need rails :P Everything is quick swap and tool-less.
Away.
