    error running application

Whenever I start an application i get the error message

WOWEXEC caused a General Protection Fault in module MMSYSTEM.DLL at 000A:0032.
    WOWEXEC will close.

And the application doesn't run. This happens with most of setup applications for programmes.

Is it a problem in my winxp?
    How can i rectify it?

I suspect you are trying to run an old 16 bit program which is acting up. There is no fixed solution to this, trial and error. In the XP help, there is a section somewhere on running 16 bit apps on 32 bit systems.

(WOWEXEC is a "Windows on Windows" exe, one of the "compatibility programs").

There is no DOS on an XP system.
