Problem with MS works spreadsheet

I have more problems with windoze. Yes, I know, I'm saving my money for a better computer. The deal is that I am working in Micro$oft (doesnt)works spreadsheet. It is always wanting to auto complete or auto fillin fields, like when I put in "+2pwr;+2for", it automaticaly adds in some wierd numbers and letters, insisting that the pwr is an incomplete formula. I have spent hours trying to turn off all autocompleting options, as has my dad, with no results. Of course, since we are stupid people who can not put in what we want, there always has to be some hidden thing to "help."

Anyone run into solutions for this, or do I have to change the way I stor my data?

here is the exact error message:
"The formula is not typed correctly.
The order of the arguments is not correct, or the seperators may not match the setting for Windows. Click ok to have works highlight the problem, and then type the formula again."

I want a button that says, "Ignore setting and continue the way you say."

Simply, just place a single quote before whatever you want to put into the cell that you don't want it to evaluate or care about:

'+2pwr;+2for

Plus, if you're using Work's spreadsheet then you're really screwed. Go get Microsoft Excel.

Hehe thats funny. Like 'Windoze victim' is likeley to spend (quite a substantial amount of) cash on another MS program.

...albeit the best, most comprehensive speadsheet software out there. Yes, I will admit it is a bit 'pricey' Get what you pay for though. And you will never use all its functions so is it worth it-who knows?

Read the manuals carefully-as we have discussed previously, and like Speedy says-the answer is there if you look!

Well, can't there be something that just turns off all auto-formatting? Just putting what you want there, not assuming some random programmer in M$ knows better?

screw it, some auto-changed formattig just screwed up all my numbers again. I think that I will simply not buy a "better" microsoft product, and instead use the money to buy a gun for our good friend Bill. I mean, seriously, he is way more trouble than he is worth most of the time. Meanwhile, I will go eat, go do maintnence on my mountain bike, and build another deck from my SWCCG.
Isn't Microsoft more trouble than its worth?
They are not responsible for the GUI, are they?

Umm, I have found MS spreadsheets to be really easy to use, in fact, even easier to use than MS Word and all of OpenOffice. You're just frustrated thats it. Calm down, start from new, put in the numbers one by one. If you need a specific text, start with a single quote. If you need a particular formatting or none at all for a group/one cell, just highlight, right click, format cells. Easy.

Try changing the cells to string cells instead of number cells.

Also, instead of Excel, you can use Open Office. It's like MS Office, but free.
