hex dump

HI Guys,

I have the HEX dump of the data collected over com port,
i need to analyse and break the protocol, could anybody suggest some tools on net , i checked it with HEX editor but it was not of much help.

I used a tool many years ago called Beagle that, given an apparently random chunk of data, would look for patterns. Regulaly repeating characters, character combinations that cropped up numerous times, that sort of thing. May be useful for reverse engineering a protocol.

I seem to recall it being expensive, but as I said, it was years ago, there are almost certainly other things around like that, or maybe some of the data mining software...
