which compiler to use
I have been using microsoft visual c++ 6.0 for a while....just wondering if it is worth it to upgrade to Visual C++ .NET 2003 ???
are there any major feature enhancements that i am missing out on???/
any suggestion guys, if you have used either
I have both Visual C++ 6.0 and Visual C++ 7 (.net) but for the programming i do i prefer to use 6.0. Atm .net is not yet widely in use and it is quite a lot different from (read a lot more confusing then) 6.0. I would not advice you upgrade unless you wish to start using .net programming or like to stay rlly up-to-date.
If you have the chance to buy VS.NET, do it. There is no reason to get an older thing. It can do everything 6.0 can do but better and its got the .NET languages which are becoming (C#) very, very popular very fast. You can make active web pages in seconds, draw a GUI in seconds, mix normal C++ with managed C++... You should read more on it, you won't regret the extra money. The IDE itself, its just so much better than 6.0.
Visual Studio.net,as per the MS site is worth $1000!
Did u actually spend that much or did u buy it from somewhere else?
I bought the upgrade from 6.0 to .NET for $500. Its worth it plus my dad's company paid the bill... I borrowed the CDs.... LOL
