Ok,ok you all know how much I like my XP.
Anyhow as I have a spare 80gig drive I thought-Lets try a dual boot system.
I know little of different file formats so.................
I downloaded all 3 discs for Mandrake 9. They (as you know) are in ISO image format.
So, I go to boot from CD-it says no thanks, please insert a correct system disc.
I think - damn, ok I make boot disc from the CD image. I boot from floppy-whoo it says blah blah to carry on press enter. I press enter and then it says ugghhh not a valid Mandrake disc.
Crap I say!
Sooo my real question is....I am right in thinking XP will not know what a ISO image file is yes? Or no?
My problem could be that I had ISO buster installed when I downloaded Mandrake-this associated itself with the download-could this be the prob? I have since uninstalled ISO buster, so windows does not know how to open the file..
So to sum up, I burned the 3 discs, used ISO buster to extract all the files, then burned another bleeding 3 discs, but none will boot. Costing me in CD's is this.
When I stick in Mandrake Disc 1 (install) in windows, I DO get all the icons on 'my computer' - gold star for mandrake etc..
What the hell can I do? Download again with no ISO recognition prog installed? I wonder as the download is NOT corrupted, I just need to know how to 'handle' said downloads.
Any (good) advice will be rewarded with a can of stella
AND finally yes yes I have searched the boards, but got disracted laughing at Deans (TK) replies when he switched from a Linux fan to Bill Gates' son. Classic.
