    Something is on my computer

All of a sudden my computer started dialing up everytime I logged on. I downloaded a spyware clearing program, and cleared everything out. Every time I start the computer back up and scan for spyware, it comes up as CyDoor. It keeps wanting to connect to t69net1.ath.cx. I've tried to tracert it, but it gets halfway through and it just times out over and over. I tried to do a ping on it and it just times out. I tried to telnet to it on a few common ports, and the server refuses to respond. I tried to type it in Internet Explorer and it comes up with the page cannot be found thingy.

When all else fails, read the instructions.

okay I uninstalled KaZaA and it uninstalled CyDoor automatically. I double-checked if it completely uninstalled from RegEdit and Lavasoft Ad-aware and Windows Explorer and it is completely uninstalled. But it is still trying to dial up to the same site whenever I start up.

run msconfig from the start menu and look in the startup tab for anything relating to it.

Run msconfig, put a dot next to selective start up, and uncheck load start up group items (98/ME) or load start up items in XP. TSR - Bad, memory eaters!

stumon that not really a good idea right now. Before we go and start changing all kinds of settings we need to find, isolate, and remove the original problem. Else you might begin to start creating new ones. Every system is different.

His OS, which i take is windows because is has msconfig, will run fine without any TSR's. If he removes them, and it stops dialing, we know its something in there. That is a lot easier then picking and choosing at first, which he will actually have to do later, if it does resolve the dialing.

My son had this problem and it seems there was a Trojan that had attached to or replace one of Windows system .exe files. I forget which one, but the file size was much bigger than it should have been.

I found which file by installing a firewall (ZoneAlarm). This then alerted which apps were trying to connect and generated warning popup which displayed the exe name. Replacing the file fixed the problem.

You've done a full system virus scan?
Naturally I didn't feel inspired enough to read all the links for you, since I already slaved away for long hours under a blistering sun pressing the search button after typing four whole words! - Quzah
