    Computer color: No red/green/orange!

For some reason my computer will not display red, certain shades of green, orange, and certain shades of purple. Red, for instance, appears as black now.

My father attempted to install some USB drivers, and later, for some reason, the monitor started doing this. He uninstalled the drivers but it apparently wasn't the problem (I am telling you this just as a FYI, in case).

How on earth can I fix this?

Find the phosphorous vacuum, puncture it, and inhale all of the goodness. Don't worry, dizziness and unconciouseness are common sideeffects.

What happens when you boot it into safe mode?

Sounds like the red gun, (assuming crt), is not being driven, or has gone bad)

I had a monitor once that (after x years) displayed green-yellowish colours only. I turned out a pin in the cable connector had fallen off.

    Is your monitor failing?

In my school's yearbook lab, there was a monitor that only displayed greenish colors.
The only good thing about freezing beyond feeling in the final Nordic ski race was that I couldn't feel that tumble I did going about 30 mph, maybe more.
On the other hand, not feeling any part of my body for 30 minutes was scary, especialy for my manhood.

That happened to me once. What happened was I took out the monitor cable, and when I put it back in, one of the pins was bent and didn't go in...so I had no red, but the strange thing was was that in games, I'd get the full RPG, but in Windows etc I wouldn't have red. So try switching cables.

Or maybe your color profiles in the control panel got corrupted or something?

try switching cables, and also check the pins on your video card and your monitor. Something is probably bent over. Before you buy a new one, try bending it back.
    Away.

    >> I'd get the full RPG

    Don't you mean RGB?
Naturally I didn't feel inspired enough to read all the links for you, since I already slaved away for long hours under a blistering sun pressing the search button after typing four whole words! - Quzah
