Wow... um... looks like he may possibly be screwed. I don't know what it did, or how it did it, but that just looks like a bunch of random ASCII characters to me
Yaa such thing had happened with me also once.
Check for the original document format. If its not in pure ASCII format. Say original document is Written in MS word or some other Word processor and you try to view it with Notepad or Wordpad or any other word processor then all you will see is %$#&%^$@#@!@ only.
