    Another 2nd Monitor question...

I've never done this myself, but I figured I might play around with it...

I have a second monitor at home and my computer has a built in video card, but I installed an AGP card for the video... if I plug the second monitor into the motherboard video card... will that second monitor work? And what will it show?

I guess that depends on what bus the onboard video runs. Some are AGP, but most are PCI. I would guess that is should work just like normal dual monitor would... but you might need to change a few settings here and there.

I haven't tried that on my own comp, but my old board does have onboard video. Maybe I'll give it a try. Honestly I don't know if it will work or not.

well how are most normal dual monitor setups done? Don't they just have 2 video cards in them?

Mine is on a GeForce 4 Ti 4200, which is a dual out card. So, I just have one card for my dual monitor.

But yes, if it's not a dual out card than it is done with multiple cards... but sometimes onboard doesn't work that way. If you really do want dual monitors though, and AGP/onboard doesn't work, you can pick up an old Matrox PCI card for real cheap

Buy a digital to VGA adapter. It just plugs right onto the digital out, and then you plug the other monitor into that. Cost me like $5
